So, I’m taking a break from makeup chatter to drop some helpful knowledge on you. Have you ever had to purchase a gift for a little one and had no idea what to get for him or her? Well, I have, and it stinks! Actually, just recently a childhood friend of mine had a baby girl, and I had no idea what she was going to need or, even, want.
So, I went looking for a solution. Of course, I could have purchased a gift card, but that is starting to feel impersonal and dated. I wanted to get her something that her daughter would use but without knowing what she’s got stocked in her nursery, I felt paralyzed. (Yes, even as a mom myself, I felt paralyzed. I think it is because things change so quickly. And you never know what people are obsessing about.)
After perusing Amazon (for books) and walking up and down the aisles at Walmart, I was at a complete loss. Then, just like that, it hit me! Another close friend had been getting a gift subscription delivered for her dog each month, and she was elated about it. Each month, she’d put a new post up on Facebook to show everyone the goodies her dog received. It was the gift that kept on giving, and that was exactly the emotion I was going for! So, my wheels started turning; there had to be something like this for babies too, right?
Well, it turns out that (YES!) there are subscription gift services for cute little baby girls! Through my research I found one company that stands above the rest called Bluum. They have subscription gift boxes for infants (boys and girls) all the way up to preschoolers. (I love this, because sometimes kids are in that in-between stage where something might be appropriate (like a slippy cup) or maybe not, and I don’t need to be the one to figure it out.)
Here’s a link to their page:
Bluum takes all of the guesswork out of buying a subscription box for a distant friend’s child (or a loved one down the street). Their experts go through all of the products out there and select the ones with the BEST reviews. Each product that they select is “responsibly-sourced, free of chemicals and beneficial to both parents and children.” You really can’t argue with that.
So, I decided to give it a go. And my friend LOVED it. For just $25/box, I was able to send her a box for three months. I would have easily spent the same amount on diapers, wipes, and whatnot, but this had a lasting effect. She got a bunch of goodies she could use, and we got to talk once a month, when she messaged me that her new box had arrived. PERFECT!
If you are looking for a cool, inexpensive gift for a little person and her mom, look no further than Bluum boxes. Seriously.
